Cameron Hume, Executive Director of the Maritime Humanitarian Aid Foundation, participated in the latest episode of ‘Gaza: The Human Toll’ hosted by the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS). The discussion centred on the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the initiatives to deliver aid to the region, including the maritime corridor and the US-built pier.
Moderated by J. Stephen Morrison of the CSIS Global Health Policy Center, the panel also featured Richard Peeperkorn, World Health Organization (WHO) Representative for Occupied Palestinian Territory, and Michelle Strucke, Director of the CSIS Humanitarian Agenda and Human Rights Initiative.
Cameron stressed the advantages of the maritime corridor for aid delivery, noting that it offers an additional capacity to complement land routes. He outlined MHAF’s readiness to implement the Blue Beach Plan, which could bring in between 750 and 1000 trucks per week and operate in challenging sea conditions.
During the discussion, Cameron highlighted MHAF’s contributions to the maritime aid efforts in Gaza. He emphasised that approximately 20% of aid delivered through the US-built pier has been procured by MHAF. Cameron also detailed the successful delivery of 1200 pallets of aid to distribution warehouses, with 200 pallets reaching community kitchens in Gaza.
