MHAF is pleased to see the distribution of the second batch of 888 tons of flour sent to Gaza, a significant milestone in our efforts to alleviate the suffering in Gaza. It brings the total amount of aid distributed in Gaza by MHAF to 1,100 tons, which has provided an additional 6 million meals for those facing food insecurity.
Last month, the second delivery of flour arrived via the Port of Ashdod and was distributed by our humanitarian partners on the ground. It provided nearly 20,000 families with two 25kg bags of flour each, enough for around 14 days of food.
The distribution of the flour is the culmination of several months of effort by our partners. In July, MHAF delivered the first batch of 212 tons of flour to Gaza via the maritime corridor and ensured the smooth delivery of the remaining 888 tons.
This is just the beginning of our work to provide more humanitarian aid to those suffering in Gaza. The delivery of aid by any means possible – land or sea in particular – is now essential to ensuring that humanitarians on the ground are able to provide the vital aid necessary to prevent famine and improve the well-being of Palestinians.
