In September, MHAF and Fogbow completed the distribution of 1,100 tons of flour which provided an additional 6 million meals for Palestinians in Gaza facing food insecurity. Our consignee Global Communities spoke to two recipients of aid to put a spotlight on their experiences:
Yousef* fled his home in northern Gaza with his family, driven to seek safety as the conflict approached. “I gathered my children and wife, and we left our home in fear for our lives,” Yousef said. “My children were screaming, and I feared a strike would hit our house directly. We took shelter in a local school, praying for the chance to return to our home.”
Before the conflict, Yousef was a construction worker, able to support his family. Now, without income and with skyrocketing food prices, Yousef finds it nearly impossible to provide basic sustenance for his family. “Leaving our home was painful, but it’s even worse when I can’t secure food for my children. Not only are they frightened, but they are hungry. Every time we move, I struggle to find enough food.”
Aisha* is another parent facing hardship. A mother of three, Aisha has had to relocate at least six times and lost her husband at the start of the war. “My children and I are mentally and physically exhausted,” she said. “I can barely buy food for my children.”
For both Yousef and Aisha, the aid provided by MHAF and our implementing partner Fogbow has been a lifeline. “The four bags of flour we received were lifesaving,” Yousef said. “With wheat flour, we can make bread, enough to feed my family for four weeks.” Aisha, too, expressed her gratitude for the essential support: “It was a big relief when I received the wheat flour assistance because it meant that I was able to secure food for my children.”
MHAF partners with Fogbow to overcome access barriers and deliver aid to those most in need. MHAF remains committed to supporting the people of Gaza with essential supplies as they endure unthinkable hardships. For families like Yousef’s and Aisha’s, this aid represents not only vital provisions but also a beacon of hope for a more stable future.
